HealthCare Appraisers Inc. (HAI) has engaged The Doug Williams Group (DWG) in response to the need to strengthen HAI’s infrastructure in order to increase HAI’s capacity for future anticipated growth. DWG Improvement Specialists, Doug Williams and Matt Ellis, arrived at the Delray Beach offices on February 19 to kick-off the Infrastructure Improvement Initiative. In the coming weeks, The Doug Williams Group will be guiding HealthCare Appraisers though process and data analysis for Project Assignment and Project Tracking/Management. Other important improvement projects will also be considered as the Improvement Initiative proceeds!

- Establish a communication system for the Infrastructure Improvement Initiative.

- Initiate process definition and measurement activities for the New Project Assignment Process.

Accomplishments Last Week (February 23 – February 27)
- DWG created a draft Master Improvement Project Plan based upon partner meeting notes, interviews, and observation.
- DWG created and validated a process flow map of the Project Management Process to identify process fail-points and immediate improvement opportunities.
- DWG developed the data specification to extract critical TimeSlips data related to analyst’s capacity, project cycle time, TimeSlips data quality, and undocumented billable time. The data extract is being validated for accuracy and usefulness.
- DWG developed a framework to assist in New Project Assignment decision-making and began gathering information about the organization’s capability to complete all project types.
Accomplishments Expected This Week (March 2-March 6)
- DWG will validate the Master Improvement Project Plan with HAI’s Managing Partner.
- DWG will complete the validation of TimeSlips data and begin an analysis of historical performance data.
- DWG will begin development of a decision tree for New Project Assignment.
- DWG will complete the process flow map of the Project Management Process, including the up-stream process for handling engagement letters. A prioritized list of improvement opportunities related to the Project Management Process will also be developed.
